Finishing Well in Ft. Wayne!
Sunday, September 27, 2009 at 05:51PM The Swiss teams today was a nice event. Our team played solid bridge all day long. We finally ended the streak of two players having tough matches each round -- we were just good all day. We, of course, got a few things wrong but in general it was just solid bridge from everyone today. I was proud after our tough week to finish well... 5-0-2 and 4th Overall (just behind the Pols and Meckwell.)

Your partner opens 2N. How do you bid this hand?
So, did you figure out how to bid this hand? I started with Stayman and after partner bid 3D I was still mildly interested in slam. So I bid Smolen (non-jump here) of 3H - that way I find out if partner has 3c Spade Support. Partner bid 3N and now I completed the slam try description of my hand by transfering (showing a 6c suit) with 4H.
2N - 3C
3D - 3H*
3N - 4H*
The auction proceeded from there to 6N (though 6S was slightly better, since I had the spade J.) But this is a nice auctoin to have with this kind of distribution.
