Major Suit Raises - Jacoby 2N

When partner opens 1H or 1S in the first or second seat your response of 2N is a conventional bid called "Jacoby 2N" showing 4+ card support for partner and 12+ HCP. This bid is game forcing and tells partner you want to investigate slam. Here are openers rebids.

Rebids by Opener after Jacoby 2N Response (Ex. 1S-P-2N*-P--) - Similar if 1H opening.
3C = Shows Singleton or Void in C
3D = Shows Singleton or Void in D
3H = Shows Singleton or Void in H
3S = Shows 16+ HCP, no S/V, strong slam interest
3N = Shows 14-16 HCP, no S/V, some slam interest
4C = Shows 5+ Clubs with 2 of the top 3 honors
4D = Shows 5+ Diamonds with 2 of the top 3 honors
4H = Shows 5+ Hearts with 2 of the top 3 honors
4S = Shows 12-14 HCP, no S/V, no slam interest
4N = Keycard Blackwood in S

The most common rebid by the opening bidder is 4S. This is often passed! If openers rebid shows a S/V at the 3-level then responder must reevaluate their hand. If responder has no secondary values opposite openers shortness then responder starts cuebiding and looking for slam. If responder has secondary values opposite openers shortness then responder denies slam interests by rebidding 4S. Here is an example slam with only 26 HCP total!
